Subject: Dirickson-Derickson Family

My name is Kimberley Easterling and I am the Great Great Granddaughter of Sophia Derickson, a daughter of William Derickson and Rachel Bratton. William moved to Bracken County, Kentucky after the death of his wife with Seth William (son), Sophia, Emily and Julia (daughters). The 1850 Census Report spelled their name incorrectly - "Dureickson". From family stories passed down, we know they were wealthy and owned a large part of Northeastern Bracken County to include Bladeston, Cumminsville, Walcott, Dover, and Gertrude Townships, and possibly lands in Mason County. He donated land in Bladeston to build the United Methodist Church and Cemetary. There is a picture of the Bladeston Church at:

My mother is currently taking pictures of all the graves at the Bladeston cemetary and the Johnsville Cemetary and I will be posting them to various websites in the very near future. I'm not sure why they suddenly moved to this area, but family stories maintain they were a very religious family. During my research, I have discovered that they donated lands in Tennessee on at least 2 occasions to churches. Hope this helps!

Kimberley

Thank you so much for posting that. I am also a descendent of William and Rachel and having been researching the Dirickson line off and on for 14 years.
